Sometimes you get those days where your creativity is very minimal. Trying all you can; listening to music, viewing images, viewing tutorials, going to places where no one will disturb you. But you still cease to gain that spark of creativity.

There is nothing around that, clear your mind, enjoy the little things. Refresh your mind, so later you can call on that creative spark to inspire others. It’s always important to bounce ideas off with your peers, you never know what more you can gain from their critique/idea/recommendation/comment. If you know me, you know that I have a notepad in my car, for the simple fact that when an idea hits me, I immediately write it down. Honestly, I’ve resulted to McDonald’s napkins as well. Point being, never let an idea go to waste. You may think it sucks, but others may see it as Gold.

Inspiration can come from anything. All walks of life, various shapes & forms, inanimate objects, ANYTHING. Weather it be Art, Life stories, Good deeds, etc. YOU have the power.

After all, theAREA was All Day’s idea, that i brought to life. Nearly 3 years later, the blog/movement is steadily growing & growing. At the end of the day, we just have to thank you — the viewers. Without everyone coming back to see what we do in our lives, theAREA wouldn’t be here.

This Thursday, I was invited by none the less, AREA’s Own, Raidz, for a Thursday night of fun. His girlfriend, Danielle, and his girlfriend’s friend, Eunice, came over and scooped me up. I will keep the story real narrow, the night was full of adventures and laughter, thanks guys! P/S In-N-Out was delicious!

A.D – All Day & I (RAiDZ) would like to cordially thank you personally, for visiting the AREA. It all started with a dream and a vision by A.D., I brought it to life. Coming up in November will be the Area’s 2 year anniversary.

Drake x Cash Money Records > IS it really successful

As an avid listener of Music, i love mostly all genre’s; Mainly hip-hop & rap is what i’m bumping via my Zune by Microsoft. But Mr. Aubrey ‘Drake’ Graham is something special. He has a few mix-tapes out, and 2 Grammy awards. Not one album. Granted, So Far Gone should have been an album in it’s entirety.

He had the potential to be the first to really do it. He had the forces, artists, team and movement behind him. He possessed a unique mix being clean-cut enough to get the corporate brands drooling, while still credible enough in the streets to be respected. Drake had the opportunity to completely change the landscape of the music business, yet at the end of the day stopped one step short from becoming a true pioneer.

See what I have to say.

I came across a very good article by DJ Skee via XXL.com. After reading it, I would have to completely agree with DJ Skee. Do not get me wrong, I was listening to Drake on my way to work this morning. But as Skee stated, Drake had a golden opportunity to shake the music industry and do something that has never been done before.

What is that you may ask. Well examining Drake’s situation before he had signed with Cash Money/Young Money records which is a subsidiary of Universal Motown, in which that is a subsidiary of Universal Music Group (UMG). Drake had the hottest buzz around the music industry. No label to tell him what to make (musically), or to do a song with. There was even some even saying that, he was the savior of Hip-Hip amongst the various Hip-hop blogs & forums.

Instead of continuing the independent domination on his own, Drake went the typical way of going label to label in a bidding war against each other trying to get the most money. In this day and age I don’t see the advantage in signing to a label after you’ve done it all entirely independently yourself

Granted an independent venture is an IDEAL business model in the music business, but as always money is a major issue. The reason why artists stride for major Label signing is the corporate budget. Big time producers, videos, marketing, etc. Getting you single to the radio stations for radio play, and what not. Drake had a mixtape single playing on the radio, as i said earlier, all of this is before his debut album.

Drake signed to Universal Motown under the Young Money/Cash Money imprint.

What DJ Skee had also stated in his guest blog was very interesting to me as well:

I don’t mean to give away the secrets on what I’m working on, but imagine going to company X, who cuts a check to have Drake be a spokesperson for the brand, then pays to create a music video that features and can also be cut into a commercial for company X that’s shown on TV to millions of people thousands of times. To top it off, the consumer has to go to Drake’s website to get the entire song (or mixtape/album) for free, where before they download they’re forced to watch that 30 second music video/advertisement about the product.

With any sort of will and determination anyone could reach for their dreams. It will be a long battle, but it can be done. When surrounded by blackness and all hope is gone, look for the light, and you will become a stronger person along with gaining confidence in yourself that you are able to do something, and not quit.

If you are fighting with your girl/man make up with them, Life is way too short to be fighting with each other. Enjoy the time you have together, because we all know, she/he is putting up with you in the first place!
