CHICAGO x HIGH TECH CAMERA SYSTEM
I am currently enrolled in a Criminal Justice course at Arizona State University and from the looks of things, I would clearly state this video is proof of invasion of privacy. From my understandings, this is a right we are granted in our fourth amendment of the constitution. Grant the fact we approved the USA Patriot Act in 2001 after the tragic catastrophe in September, giving up a limited amount of privacy for reasons of protection from terrorism. However, I feel the government is abusing its power in this video shown below. The Patriot Act was not about placing cameras all over the city to monitor possible terrorist activity, but to rather grant law enforcement agencies to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records. I understand the government is doing all in its power to protect this nation from another cruel cataclysmic event, which personally, I find this to be the idealistic way to provide protect, monitor the city. Although, I question myself.. How far will the government go in terms of public privacy in order to protect this nation? How much of our privacy are we willing to, as citizens, to give up as a nation? This is simply food for thoughts…comments?
